URUNGA SLSC NEWS 23 Jan 2012

Congratulations to our own Garry Howe who has been nominated for the 2012 Bellinger Shire Australia Day Citizen of the Year Award.  Garry works very hard for our club and deserves this nomination.  It would be great if members could support him by attending the Ceremony, which will be held at the Urunga Primary School on Australia Day.

PATROLS – Please take a look at the website Patrol Roster as there have been changes made to our current roster (again).  Apologies to those people who have been
inconvenienced and we will look at sending our current roster person off for intensive
roster training next season.

Thursday 26th January Patrol Six is on the beach with
Captain Garry Howe, VC Linq Griffiths, Radio Denis Forbes, Jim Kerr, Richard
Pengelly, Oliver Maher, Brandon and Naomi Howe and Rachel Erlandsen.

Saturday 28th January Patrol One – Captain Jason Ford, VC Tracy Neaves, Radio Vicky Ford, Kathryn Gibney, Travis Ford, Jesse Stamel and Aidan Neaves.

Sunday 29th January Patrol Two – Captain Craig Delahunty, Alex Harken-Yumru, Ian and Luke Wallace.  Help is always needed on this patrol thanks.

PICK THE JOKER – Joker has started again and Sunday saw Steve Ryan’s name pulled from the bucket.  He chose number 5 which was the 5 Diamonds.  Next Sunday the Joker Jackpot will be $1100.  Come to the OVH between 4pm and 6pm on Sundays and support your club and our major sponsor.  Joker roster for Sunday 29th January is Mark Nugent and Ashley Underhill.

Congratulations to all who competed at the recent Stramit NSW Country Championships at South West Rocks.  Results are as follows – Ty Cook 2nd Ski, 5th Ironman, 4th Swim, Mark
Sutton 4th Ski, Naomi Howe 4th Board, 5th Swim, 4th Flags, Elizabeth Waugh 3rd Swim, Mark Gale 2nd Flags, Corey Underhill 1st Beach Sprint, 2nd Open Flags and 1st U19 Flags.

NIPPERS – Normal Nippers at Hungry Head this weekend.  Don’t forget that skull caps are compulsory while participating at Nippers.  We suggest that you write your
child’s name in their cap as they do get left behind at times.

TRAINING – Board training will be held on Tuesday at 4.30pm and Saturday at 2pm.  All welcome. Bronze squad should be at the beach by 9am on Sunday.  IRB squad will be contacted by Garry.  We also highly recommend that you get yourself to North Beach at 4pm on Friday 27th as Scott McCartney will be running a training clinic and it will be open to all members from Urunga, Scotts Head, North Beach and Nambucca SLSC clubs.  There will be a BBQ afterwards.  Scott is the NSW Interbranch coach so this will be a training session not to miss. All ages and all abilities welcome.

The Officials Course will be held at 9am on Saturday 4th February at Sawtell SLSC.  Any enquiries to Garry on ph: 66551449.
